Do you have experience working with museum collections and museum storage or relocation projects? MTG Hawke’s Bay is seeking experienced and enthusiastic team players on a five-month fixed term basis for Collection Assistant Relocation roles. These roles are an exciting and rare opportunity to be part of the team relocating the museum collection to the new purpose-built storage and research centre in Hastings.

As a Collection Assistant Relocation, you will ensure the timely and safe relocation and location tracking of the Hawke’s Bay Museums Trust (HBMT) collection from the current premises to the new storage facility in Hastings.

• Rare and exciting opportunity to be part of a significant collection relocation and gain knowledge and experience moving collections and setting up a new store.

He kōrero mōhou - About You

• Post graduate diploma in Museum Studies or similar.
• Minimum 1-2 years relocation or museum collection handling experience.
• Good level of fitness and strength.

This is a five-month fixed term opportunity, working 40 hours per week. 

You will be working across and between several sites in Hawke's Bay, including the MTG, the current collection storage facility, and the new facility in Hastings. Equivalent annual salary of $61,073-$71,851 depending on skills and experience.

We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
