MTG Hawkes Bay is seeking a Public Programmes & Events Coordinator, you will be job-sharing with an experienced team member and be well supported by our MTG whanau.
As a Public Programmes & Events Coordinator you will be responsible for delivering high quality commercial events, public programmes and museum events. You will contribute to enriching the community and our visitor's knowledge through experience and activities during these events.
MTG stands for Museum, Theatre and Gallery, as the building showcases a regional museum and art gallery as well as the Century Theatre. We want you to help showcase, promote and celebrate the space that we have to offer, you will proactively liaise with key community and sector stakeholders in the development of events and public programmes to help achieve this.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop annual and long-term programming and events plan to support the exhibition schedule, key community milestones/events, education programme and general MTG requirements.
- Plan, develop and deliver key major or annual events
- Ensure a tailored run sheet including H&S is developed for each programme or event
- Liaise on staff rostering to ensure sufficient staffing for each programme or event is planned well in advance
- Work with clients and/or staff on promotional material for events including setting up pop-up-banners, posters, etc as required
- Monitor all programmes and events to ensure we are meeting targets and/or remaining within approved budget
- Ensure accessibility, inclusion and visitor experience is a core part of planning across all public programmes and activities
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven flexible and collaborative style
- A minimum of 5 years events organisation experience
- Previous experience in delivering exceptional customer service
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- Ability to remain calm and maintain a problem-solving stance in response to difficult situation
- Understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi
This role will be 20 hours per week, the right person will need to be flexible due to the needs of events and venue hire.
We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
