Cafe Team Member - Part Time

As a Café Team Member at Ocean Spa, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality food and beverage experiences that leave a lasting impression on our visitors. From crafting barista-quality coffee to preparing fresh, delicious meals, you’ll help create a welcoming and enjoyable environment where people can relax, connect, and recharge.
Working closely with the Café Lead, you’ll contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the café supporting stock management, maintaining high food safety standards, and ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to great service. This is a hands-on role where initiative, teamwork, and a passion for hospitality will see you thrive.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
Prepare and serve high-quality food and beverages, including specialty coffee, with strong attention to presentation and consistency
Deliver outstanding customer service, creating a warm, welcoming café experience for all visitors
Support daily café operations including stock control, cash handling, and maintaining equipment
Uphold food safety, hygiene, and quality standards at all times
Contribute to a positive team environment and continuous improvement of café offerings and service
Step into supervisory or Duty Manager responsibilities when required
He kōrero mōhou - About You
Previous experience in hospitality, with confidence in food preparation and service
Barista training with a genuine passion for quality coffee and customer experience
Strong communication skills paired with a friendly, approachable manner
Sound understanding of food safety practices, with relevant certifications or willingness to obtain
Reliable and flexible, with availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Proactive team player who brings energy, initiative, and a positive attitude to the environment

This is a part-time opportunity requiring reliability and flexibility, with shifts across evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a rostered basis.
The hourly rate for this role is between $24.45-$28.75 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
