Join Napier City Council’s Library team as a Customer Service Librarian, where you’ll be the friendly face welcoming customers, helping them find what they need, and connecting them with the full range of library services, resources, and programmes.
This fixed-term, part-time role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. You’ll support day-to-day library operations, assist with events and activities, and work closely with a supportive team across our Napier and Taradale Libraries. Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
Be a welcoming, front-line presence, providing great customer service to library users across Napier and Taradale.
Support day-to-day library operations, including maintaining collections, assisting with technology, and opening and closing the library.
Help deliver and promote library events, programmes, and services that connect with the community.
Work collaboratively with a supportive team in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.

This is a one year fixed-term opportunity working part time hours (26 hours per week over 5 days). The specific days and hours are as follows (these hours include unpaid lunch breaks):
Tuesday: 10:00–3:30 = 5.5 hours
Wednesday: 10:00–3:30 = 5.5 hours
Thursday: 11:45–5:15 = 5.5 hours
Friday: 11:45–5:15 = 5.5 hours
Saturday: 10:00–4:30 = 6.5 hours
You will be based across both Napier and Taradale Libraries as required and rostered.
The annual salary package for this role, pro-rated for 26 hours per week is $36,300 - $42,700 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience. This equates to $26.10 - $30.70 per hour (inc KiwiSaver).
