As a Sweeper Operator, you play a hands-on role in protecting that standard. You’ll be the person keeping our footpaths, carparks, and streets clear, using specialised equipment and your own practical know-how to make sure our city always looks its best. This role is all about reliable, consistent work that makes a real and visible difference every day. You’ll be part of a supportive team, take responsibility for your equipment and your patch, and contribute to a high-performing, safety-focused culture that underpins all of our operations.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Operate motorised sweepers to maintain clean footpaths, carparks, and public spaces.
- Carry out daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and safe operation practices.
- Support wider city cleaning tasks, including debris removal and bin servicing.
- Work as part of a supportive, safety-focused team committed to delivering high-quality results.
He kōrero mōhou - About You
- Experience in manual labour or outdoor maintenance, with confidence operating mechanical or automotive equipment.
- A full driver’s licence, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently in all weather conditions.
- Good communication skills, a respectful approach when interacting with the public, and a commitment to safety.
- Reliability, physical fitness, and pride in delivering consistently high standards of cleanliness.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will be based out of our operational site in Onekawa, but spend most of your time working across Napier’s public spaces.
The hourly rate for this role is between $29.50-$32 (plus KiwiSaver if eligible), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
