Napier City Council is looking for a dedicated Suburban Van City Cleaner to join our City Cleaning team. This is a hands-on role that helps keep our streets, parks, and walkways looking their best. You’ll empty bins, collect litter, clean public areas, and respond to service requests — helping ensure Napier stays safe, attractive, and welcoming for everyone.

Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Maintain the cleanliness of suburban streets, parks, and walkways through litter collection, bin servicing, and general cleaning.
- Operate small vehicles and equipment such as vacuums and blowers to keep public spaces tidy and hazard-free.
- Respond to service requests and environmental issues, including illegal dumping or debris removal.
- Work collaboratively within a supportive team that values teamwork, safety, and pride in presentation
He kōrero mōhou - About You
- Experienced in cleaning, waste collection, or general labouring, with the ability to operate small plant and equipment safely.
- Holds a full Class 1 driver’s licence and is physically fit for hands-on, outdoor work.
- Known for being reliable, respectful, and community-minded, with a strong commitment to safety and service.
- Takes pride in keeping Napier’s public spaces clean, welcoming, and well cared for.

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and based out of our Onekawa Operations Depot.
The hourly rate for this role is $27.27–$29.59 per hour, plus KiwiSaver if eligible, with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
