We’re looking for a multiskilled Mobile Garden Team Member to help care for and develop designated garden areas on the roading network, including median strips. This is hands-on work that requires experience with machinery, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to tackle varied tasks. While qualifications are valued, we’re happy to interview candidates with solid experience and the right attitude.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Maintain roadside gardens, median strips, and other urban green spaces.
- Perform essential tasks like pruning, planting, and weeding, ensuring top-notch equipment maintenance.
- Assist arborists and contribute to new landscaping projects if an when required.
- Support health and safety initiatives and ensure a safe work environment.

- Experience operating garden maintenance machinery.
- Willingness to work on roads and median strips—not just traditional garden spaces.
- A full driver’s license.
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Physically capable and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Traffic Management qualification highly desirable but not required.

This is a full time, permanent opportunity working 42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. The team is based at the Napier City Council Depot in Onekawa, but you will be working at sites across the city.
$27-$29 per hour dependant on skills and experience.
