We’re now looking for a Parking and Napier Assist / Āwhina Tāngata Coordinator – a brand-new role with real impact. This position is all about supporting the smooth delivery of our community-facing services, ensuring they are efficient, compliant, and customer-focused. From day-to-day administration to helping create a safer, more responsive city, you’ll be right at the heart of it.
Based within our Strategy & Urban Development Directorate, you’ll be part of the team that drives planning, policy, and compliance to support sustainable growth and community wellbeing. Just as this directorate supports local businesses and developers through regulatory excellence, you’ll help deliver trusted services that make a visible difference in Napier.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Coordinate the daily operations of Napier Assist and Parking services, including lease parking and vehicle compound management.
- Manage public and staff enquiries, ensuring high standards of responsiveness and professionalism.
- Support financial administration, contract management, and performance reporting across service areas.
- Administer service contracts related to Napier Assist and Parking infrastructure (such as CCTV, coin collection, meter maintenance, and associated hardware/software), monitoring performance and compliance with contract terms.
- Assist with the preparation and collation of reports, and contribute to the maintenance and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both field and administrative functions.
He kōrero mōhou - About You
- You bring at least 3 years’ experience in operational support, ideally in parking or community safety services.
- You are confident handling public enquiries and complaints, and have strong organisational and communication skills.
- You are comfortable managing financial records, liaising with external agencies, and working in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
- You have experience with enforcement processes and are not hesitant to connect with external agencies.
- You consistently identify opportunities to enhance and streamline processes.

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday and you will be based in Napier.
The annual salary package for this role is between $73,300-$86,200 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
