Waste Water Operator

We're on the lookout for a committed and ambitious team member to join us as a Waste Water Operator. As a vital part of our City Services team, you'll oversee essential operational checks, maintenance tasks, and data collection for our water assets. Your role will also involve contributing to enhancements and upgrades across these critical assets.
In this position, you'll play a key role in maintaining and operating approximately 50 wastewater pump stations, around 8 stormwater pump stations, and our wastewater treatment plant.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Checking, maintaining and data collection of approximately 50 wastewater pump stations and assets
- Checking, maintaining and data collection of 8 stormwater pump stations
- Checking, maintaining, data collection and operating equipment to treat and process waste water at the Napier Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Communicate with the public in a manner that prompts a friendly and customer oriented image of Napier City Council.
- Ensure plant vehicles and tools are left in a clean and tidy state ready for next use.
- Identify and report serious faults and report promptly to the Team Leader Plant Operations
- Participate and contribute to health and safety continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report all incidents, including near misses, whether or not these incidents involve actual consequences
He kōrero mōhou - About You
- 2 – 3 years’ secondary schooling
- National certificate in Wastewater Treatment (Level 4) and/or a minimum of 3 years operational experience with process plants and/or water industry
- Full Class 1 drivers licence
- Mechanical ability
- Analytical skills
- Problem solving skills
- Good record keeping skills

This is a permanent, full time opportunity working 42.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Must be available for immediate start
This role is based out of our Depot, in Onekawa Napier. We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
