We're looking for a committed Senior Parking Officer to join our team in Napier City. In this role, you'll work closely with the Team Leader to oversee daily parking operations, enforce regulations, and help keep the city’s traffic flowing smoothly. Your efforts will ensure a well-managed parking system while providing excellent service to both the community and visitors.
You'll be responsible for investigating and arranging the removal of abandoned vehicles, staying in close communication with your team and relevant authorities, and always maintaining a professional and prepared presence. During events, you'll support coordinators with parking logistics and vehicle management. You’ll also collaborate with emergency services and other agencies when needed to ensure a safe and efficient parking environment.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
- Assist the Team Leader, Parking with daily operations and team coordination.
- Enforce parking regulations across Napier, ensuring compliance with laws and bylaws.
- Educate and assist motorists while acting as a city ambassador for visitors.
- Train and support Parking Officers to build team capability.
- Oversee daily parking activities, ensuring efficient service and accurate records.
- Identify enforcement needs and coordinate patrols accordingly.
- Suggest improvements in parking technology and equipment.
- Provide court testimony for contested infringement notices when required.
- Ensure parking meters function properly and regulatory signs are maintained.
- Report damaged or hazardous Council property promptly.

- Proven experience in parking enforcement or related field.
- Knowledge of parking legislation and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and coordinate a team effectively.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and events.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

This is a permanent full time opportunity, working Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm (roster) We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
