Venue Assistant - Municipal Theatre

The Napier Municipal Theatre stands as a beacon of Art Deco elegance in Napier, renowned as one of the premier provincials performing arts centres nationwide. Hosting a myriad of international acts and local talents, its stage resonates with cultural vibrancy and artistic excellence.
As our Venue Assistant you'll play a pivotal part in ensuring our theatre shines for every guest. You'll engage directly with our valued clients and visitors, ensuring the cleanliness and pristine condition of our theatre space are always maintained to the highest standards, creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone who walks through our doors
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintain the Napier Municipal Theatre to the highest standard of cleanliness and
presentation at all times, with any spot cleaning carried out so the rooms are kept at a
constant state of readiness - Coordinate the delivery of venue preparation operational processes in a timely manner
- Ensure the cleaning cupboard, equipment and storage are clean and tidy at all times and that an acceptable amount of stock is on hand
- Ensure the presentation and set-ups of all rooms consistently meet or exceed the
customer’s expectations - Ensure that all set-ups are completed in accordance with the booking report instructions at least one hour before the client arrival or otherwise instructed
- Ensure all plant rooms are clean and tidy and secure at all times
- Ensure cleaning supplies are maintained at appropriate levels at all times
- Ensure a regular check of lighting is carried out and lamps replaced when necessary
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- An innate understanding of the events industry or a keen willingness to learn its intricacies.
- Previous experience in venue and event preparation, coupled with a demonstrated understanding of working in a performing arts environment.
- Superlative customer service skills to deliver unparalleled experiences to patrons.
- Flexibility to accommodate varying work schedules, including weekends, evenings, and extended hours aligned with event schedules.
- Physical dexterity to undertake manual tasks associated with venue setup and maintenance.
Please note that this position is a 40-hour work week, spread across any five days, with occasional early morning or late-night shifts dictated by event requirements.
