Information Capability Officer
Help shape how information is managed, shared and protected across Napier City Council
Are you passionate about organising information, improving processes, and helping people work smarter?
We're looking for an Information Capability Officer to support the way Council manages information throughout its lifecycle. From records and archives to Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms, you'll play an important role in ensuring information is organised, secure, accessible and managed in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
This is more than a records management role. You'll work closely with teams across Council to provide practical advice, training and support, helping staff confidently manage information while contributing to continuous improvements in the systems and processes that underpin how we work. Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
In this role you'll:
Support the management of Council's digital and physical information throughout its lifecycle
Administer Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
Promote good information management practices through advice, training and user support
Help maintain secure, compliant and accessible information and records across Council
Support information governance, archiving and records management processes
Contribute to improving information systems, processes and ways of working across the organisation
He kōrero mōhou - About You
Experience in records management, information management, administration or a related field
An understanding of information governance, records management or compliance principles
Experience working with Microsoft 365, SharePoint or similar information management systems
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
The confidence to provide advice, training and practical support to a wide range of users
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a customer-focused approach
A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving ability and a passion for continuous improvement
A qualification in Records Management, Information Governance, Library & Information Studies or a related discipline will be well regarded.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. You will be based in Napier.
The annual salary package for this role is $66,223 - $74,013 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
