Join Hawkes Bay Museum as a Customer Service Assistant on a casual basis and be at the heart of every visitor’s experience. This role combines front-of-house service, retail, tours, events, and volunteer support, ensuring our museum runs smoothly and every visitor leaves inspired. You’ll engage with the community, share our stories, and contribute to a welcoming, fun, and inclusive environment while supporting Hawkes Bay Museum's wider programmes and initiatives.
Te Āheinga - The Opportunity
Deliver welcoming, efficient, and knowledgeable front-of-house service for all visitors, tours, and events.
Support retail, admissions, volunteer coordination, and public programmes, ensuring high standards and smooth operations.
Engage with visitors, schools, and community groups, sharing information about Hawkes Bay Museum, exhibitions, and Hawke’s Bay attractions.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and continuous improvement of systems, processes, and experiences.
Play a key role in supporting Hawkes Bay Museum's Friends programme, volunteer activities, and community engagement initiatives.

Experienced in delivering consistently high-quality customer service in a public-facing role.
Strong communicator with effective interpersonal skills and a calm, solutions-focused approach.
Highly organised, with excellent time management and the ability to work autonomously while staying connected to the team.
Flexible, collaborative, and committed to contributing to a fun, positive, and inclusive working environment.
Confident with Microsoft Office, digital systems, cash handling, and adapting processes to improve efficiency.
This is a casual position; employment will be on an as-needed basis without any guaranteed hours.
The hourly rate for this role is $25.87-$28.75, with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
