Join our Reserves and Playground Maintenance team at Napier City Council! We're looking for a dedicated and multi-skilled professional to help maintain and enhance the beauty of our parks, reserves, and Council Housing Villages. In this role, you'll take pride in ensuring these community spaces are well-presented, safe, and welcoming for all.

You'll be the friendly face of Napier City, building strong relationships with park users and housing tenants while delivering high-quality maintenance services. If you're passionate about creating vibrant outdoor spaces and upholding exceptional standards, this is the opportunity for you!

Responsibilities will include:

• Mow, edge, and maintain communal grounds in Council Housing Villages.
• Keep lawns well-presented and neat.
• Operate a tractor when needed.
• Perform weed eating and spraying.
• Maintain and inspect playground equipment.
• Dig holes manually for posts, barriers, gates, and signs.
• Clean and care for water features.
• Carry out concreting, chainsaw work, and install barriers.
• Manage litter and rake bark in playgrounds; make light repairs.
• Interact professionally with the public and housing tenants, offering friendly assistance.
• Complete service requests promptly.
• Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and works efficiently.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• 2-3 years’ secondary schooling
• Current drivers licence – Class 1
• Mechanical knowledge and/or experience of machinery maintenance.
• Previous experience as a labourer
• Good verbal communication skills
• Reasonable level of literacy
• Good attention to detail

This is a full-time opportunity, working 42.5 hours from Monday to Friday. We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
