Come join Napier City Council's City Services Team as the Drainage Foreperson! In this pivotal role, you'll be entrusted with ensuring the efficient delivery, maintenance, and construction of the city's stormwater and sewerage network.
Working closely with the Drainage Team Leader, you'll play a vital part in managing the day-to-day operations of drainage maintenance and infrastructure within the Napier City Council area. Your mission will be to uphold the council's strategies and policies by delivering customer-focused drainage services with professionalism and excellence, thus upholding a positive public image.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead drainage crews to ensure the smooth operation of drainage networks.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to plan, schedule, and prioritize drainage projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with regulations.
- Foster the continuous development of a skilled and high-performing team.
- Approve completed service requests, ensuring compliance with Council standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of equipment and workplace.
- Contribute to condition assessments and improvement recommendations.
- Assist in developing and implementing relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide guidance and support to team members to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Motivate and maintain high levels of productivity and quality workmanship within the team.
To thrive in this role, ideal candidates should possess:
- Relevant qualifications such as National Certificate in Utilities Maintenance or Plumbing, Gasfitting, or Drainlaying.
- Certified Registered Drainlayer License.
- Full clean driver's license with heavy vehicle endorsement.
- Wheels, tracks, and rollers (WTR) certification.
- Previous senior experience in construction, operation, and maintenance of 3 waters reticulation networks.
- Strong understanding of civil works and drainage systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
This is a permanent full time role, working Monday to Friday (it will require some overtime and on call on a rostered basis)
