Team Leader, Development & Standards

Permanent position working 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

You will be part of the Asset Strategy team and will be responsible for the day to day management, coordination and integration of Council services relating to engineering approvals and the development of key land within Napier City through the active engagement with all Directorates and key external stakeholders. This is a varied role which will tap into your planning, engineering and project management skills during an exciting time of transition for the Council.

You will provide professional engineering advice on matters relating to the provision of utilities services, reviewing legislation, policies, design criteria, procedures and management of policy and strategies. Ensuring that any work undertaken meets relevant statues, regulations, by-laws, district plans, subdivision and land development requirements.

A key part of this role will be the coordination of the District Plan Review projects on behalf of the Infrastructure Directorate. This is where your planning prowess will shine through. You will oversee the development of Council's Parklands subdivision including concept design, consenting, scoping, project delivery and sales and settlement functions.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • A university degree in engineering, or planning along
  • At least 10 years' relevant experience along with
  • A proven background in local authority development, including planning, design, survey, construction and supervision of various municipal works.

It is important that you have excellent communication skills, with a commitment to customer service, a general working knowledge of the Resource Management and Buildings Acts. This role will take a lead establishing a standard of excellence within the team and across the development community, through relationship management, training and guidance around expected application standards.
