Napier City Council is seeking a talented and experienced Landscape Architect or Urban Designer to join our super City Design & Urban Renewal Team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating vibrant and sustainable urban environments that enhance the quality of life for both residents and visitors alike.

As Urban Design Lead, you will work alongside our senior Urban Designer to provide advice, guidance and expertise to our City Strategy and Regulatory Teams, as well as lending technical design expertise into a range of exciting urban renewal projects.

You will advocate for the integration of best practice urban design principles to deliver high quality projects with a holistic approach to design initiatives through collaboration, promotion and awareness. You will have the ability to provide technical urban design advice, including undertaking opportunities and constraints analysis, master planning and coordination of strategic projects.

You will understand and contribute to the strategic vision for the City and be able to translate this to be relevant on a project-by-project basis. In addition, you will be strong communicator with the ability to actively engage with key stakeholders such as Kainga Ora, Iwi and the wider Council.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Landscape Architecture / Planning or relevant Urban Design qualification
• Minimum 12 years' experience working in the profession of Landscape Architecture, Strategic Planning or Urban Design
• Experience in housing developments, establishing and maintaining cross-organisational partnerships, and collaboration skills
• Experience in Mana Whenua engagement and working with our Treaty Partners
