We are ready to build our Napier Assist /Āwhina Tāngata team and are looking for people to act as our big brothers and sisters looking after our community, businesses, and visitors.
Our Napier Assist Officers will work with our community to de-escalate issues and reduce public exposure to nuisance behaviour by others. They will do this through active patrolling, being visible, and connecting with people who need help or guidance. They keep an eye on areas of interest through monitoring of CCTV and work with Police and other support agencies to support city safety.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Great integrity and ability to connect with people
- Sound judgement and decision making, with a ‘hands on' problem-solving approach
- Able to remain calm under pressure and take control
- Ability to multi-task and operate computer equipment and two-way radio communications
- CCTV experience is an advantage, however, full training will be provided
- Available to work shifts on a 24-hour, 7 day per week roster
- Current active FULL driver's licence
