Operator - Transfer Station

Permanent position - minimum of 42.5 hours per week, Thursday to Monday (must be available to work weekends).

The Redclyffe Transfer Station is responsible for the operation of general waste, green waste and recycling. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working and self-motivated individual to ensure the operation of the green waste and recycling areas at the Transfer Station runs smoothly. You will assist and direct customers with unloading of green waste and recycling.

Key tasks for the role include overseeing of the green waste and recycling areas at the transfer station are operating of a front-end loader and tractor forklift, loading and unloading if required of green waste, recycling. You would also be responsible for green waste stocked piled, ensuring recyclable materials are in the correct bins and maintaining overflow ponds and discharge pipes. Maintaining a clean and tidy work area and environment also assisting with other duties at the transfer station. This position offers a positive stable work environment with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge.

Requirements for the role include:

  • At least six months previous experience driving trucks and/or heavy equipment
  • Ability to work co-operatively in a team and also unsupervised
  • Physically fit and accustom to manual work
  • Familiar with Health and Safety practises, procedures and policies in the work place
  • Ability to deal with general public and other customers
  • Drivers Licence essential 1, 2 and with a W endorsement
  • Basic skills using a computer
