Senior Design Engineer

Permanent position working 40 hours per week.

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer who is experienced in 3 Waters.

The Design Team is responsible for the design of a variety of roading projects (major and minor works), three waters utility works, sportsgrounds and other civil engineering works throughout the City of Napier.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring three waters infrastructure designs meet appropriate industry standards from design to execution
  • Managing and undertaking verification of designs and drawings to ensure they are consistent with required design standards
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key external and internal stakeholders
  • Liaising with asset managers, project managers and external contractors to ensure the desired outcomes are met
  • Quality Assurance of resource planning and management
  • Mentoring of our design team to assist council with building a high performing and skilled team

To be considered for the position you will have a tertiary qualification in engineering (civil) and at least 15 years engineering, design, and engineering review experience in three waters, at a high technical level.

You will need the ability to develop the idea of what best practice or 'good' looks like and how to apply it, utilising your knowledge of local authority infrastructure engineering, design and life cycle management principles and practices.

Your ability to motivate, inspire and foster a cohesive team environment using an innovative, consultative and flexible approach will help you succeed in this role.
